To start the day with

"The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes 'Awww!'"

A couple of days back Serene showed me this trailer of On The Road and then today morning I happened to stumble upon these words while reading a web-interview. Coincidence. Now I have never read Jack Kerouac's writing before but something in those words speaks to me, so much that I am tempted to blog about it even before I get started with my work for the day. Hopefully the words will stick around in my head long enough and tempt me further to read the book before I watch the movie. I think one of these days I'll get around to cleaning the dust off this book that I can actually see out of the corner of my eye right now.

What's new?

What's new? Nothing, yet everything. The rains have almost decided not to show up and more than half the year is already over. What have I got to show for it? Nothing, yet everything. Drawings, but no doodles, plans, some accomplished, some half-done and some failed, long hiatuses in between, pictures made here and there, a long long wait for some instant pleasure, playing cards, tin anniversaries, black and white shadows, colour splashed old abode, search for a new abode and a new workspace, motifs from the land of thangkas, strings of coloured prayers, more of the bottle companionship, indulgence with some animals, the desire to achieve so many self-set goals, some works done towards them, some lazy afternoons, many rushed up mornings, six months down the hitched road and when people ask me what's new, I pause, I think and I say nothing, yet everything.

A Trunk That Was

Past couple of months have been hectic. Illustrating a story, ideating a new range of products, taking long road trips, vacationing in the lap of nature and doing a lot of new things some of which I'd really like to discuss some other time. But what really kept me occupied and on my toes this whole time was this children's story book that I was illustrating and designing till quite recently. It is something that I had been working on, on and off, for the past one year almost. A lot of fun as it was, being my first attempt at illustrating one whole book and working on creating more than one character at the same time was equally challenging. In the words of the author herself, "it is the story of a little boy who is fascinated by his grandmother's old wooden trunk". That is all I'd like to reveal of it right now apart from the fact that the illustrations have been done and the compiled book is on its way out to the publishers.

Piglet's Polyvore Rumble #5

Yes, the Polyvore rumbles are back!! Back more because of this realisation that happened to me a while ago. Which is, right now what I really-really need in life is a wardrobe makeover. The closet still looks the way it used to look a year back or three years back for that matter (if you keep aside all the wedding bling). I am tired of all these clothes that I've been carrying around for years and the clothes that aren't even me anymore. Or were they me even back then? I don't think so. Anyway, I have decided to give away all this stuff and make room for the new one. Been taking a round of the bazaar lately but nothing has pleased me yet. Looks like a lot of time and effort is going to go into this. But it'll sure be fun.

What do I do with my life? This.

Look who's got an all new bunch of business cards! Yes, my most favourite person in the world has designed me these prettiest business cards ever. I recently printed a batch of them and showed them to people, online and in person. They've received tremendous response so far and everyone seems to love them. There are a few who are even willing to queue outside this person's door for feedback and redesign of their own cards. What's funny is that he had designed them for me like three years back and for something that was done three years back, they look ridiculously fresh. I'm wondering and waiting for the time when he'll get back to doing this fulltime. Get back to doing things he loves, fulltime.

Home Is Wherever I'm With You

The space that we currently call home. Drawing and painting on them walls is the next thing that I want to do with this space.
